On Frequency: Introducing the Great Division User Award

There's a difference between flying and flying with someone. Anyone can push back, climb into an empty sky, and land without ever hearing another voice on the radio โ€” but that's not what aviation was built for.

Today, IVAO Morocco is introducing a new recognition for the pilots who choose otherwise: the Great Division User award.

What It's For

This award exists for pilots who seek out a controller before they ever leave the gate โ€” who request their clearance, check in on departure, and follow instructions all the way through a real handoff. Not because they have to, but because that's what makes the sky feel alive.

It isn't about logging hours or chasing a leaderboard. It's about the habit of connection โ€” choosing, flight after flight, to fly with the division rather than around it. A pilot earns this badge simply by doing what IVAO was built for: spending real time airborne, working with a controller either departing or arriving, on an ordinary day with no event, no crowd, and no spotlight โ€” just a frequency, a call sign, and someone on the other end listening back.

This award draws inspiration from IVAO USA's "Chase the ATC" tour, adapted here for GMMM FIR with its own criteria and spirit.

Rules

  • Minimum 1 hour of air time (airborne time only โ€” excludes ground/taxi before takeoff and after landing)
  • ATC coverage required on departure or arrival โ€” at least one end of the flight must be worked by a controller
  • En routeโ€“only ATC coverage does not count โ€” a Center/FSS controller alone, with no departure or arrival controller online, does not qualify the flight
  • Online days and organized events do not count โ€” fly-ins, RFEs, exams, and other scheduled division events are excluded; this rewards regular, everyday online activity

Eligibility

The award is open now and runs through December 31, 2030.

How It's Verified

Claims are cross-referenced against IVAO flight statistics and ATC connection logs for the relevant airports to confirm that real controller service was provided and used during departure or arrival.

Get on frequency, check in, and let a controller guide you home. That's all it takes to earn your Great Division User badge.
